With all that in mind, Faur, a new strategic communications collective based near Edinburgh, is excited to announce our free launch offer of a comprehensive, bespoke communications strategy to boost a selected Scottish startup.

Interested companies have until Wednesday, 17th July 2024, to register their interest.

Who Is Involved?

Strategy production will be led by Faur founder Michael MacLennan, who has previously worked in senior digital and communications roles for Red Bull, Brunswick, the BBC, ITN, Barclaycard, STV, and The Herald. He has produced and implemented strategies for a range of organisations, including for global corporate clients and newer start-ups.

Additional support will be provided by Fergus Bruce, an experienced communicator, strategist, and commercial director with more than 15 years of experience in the design, creative, and visualisation sectors, alongside other Faur Associates as required. Amongst other positions he has worked for the University of Glasgow, Edify.ac, and Soluis Group, while co-founding social change accelerator After the Pandemic.

The selected startup will receive a comprehensive communications package which includes:

  • Communications Audit: An assessment of your current communications efforts and identification of key opportunities. This leads to your…

  • Communications Strategy: A comprehensive and accessible go-to guide which will include overall objectives, peer review, strategic outline, communications approach, audience segmentation, content mix, actions and recommendations, and more – the structure will be tailored to the organisation’s needs

  • Stakeholder interviews: As part of the strategy, we will interview internal and external stakeholders, which can unlock extra key learnings

  • Becoming part of the Faur Community: At Faur, we firmly believe in the power of collaboration and community.  We love building excellent long-term relationships with brilliant people. By participating in this competition, startups not only have the chance to win a transformative communications strategy, but also to become part of our larger supportive network

Selection Process

Faur will carefully review each submission, and look to arrange 30-minute online exploratory chats with potential partners for the week beginning Monday, 22nd July 2024.

The selected startup will be selected based on the potential of its purpose, the potential impact of a communications strategy on its business, and its enthusiasm for growth and innovation, as well as partnership fit with Faur.
